The Happy Belly Cart Goes Belly Up

Riding the success of a new booth at the Ferry Building's Thursday market (with the crowds to prove it), Namu has decided to pull the plug on its popular Happy Belly endeavor in Golden Gate Park.

Before the Kogis and Frog Trucks of the world, Happy Belly—with its famous kimchi dog—was one of the progenitors of the whole gourmet street food craze. Nonetheless, Namu decided not to renew its contract with the park overlords, instead opting to focus on the Thursday market (and teaser, maybe Saturday too at some point).

Team Namu says that there's always a possibility that Happy Belly could return at some point in the future, but for now, there are no immediate plans.

Oddly enough, the news comes during a summer that also saw the city's park and rec department pass legislation to try to make money by drawing more vendors into local parks.
