555 Mission: Done

555 Mission Street is finished in its entirety (and on time, at that) as announced today in an APB issued by developers Tischman Speyer/ Turner Construction. (And yes, the Olympics are long gone; but yes, we couldn't resist running our all-time fave construction shot, anyway.) The formidable 33-story, 670,000 square-foot homage to glass— 555 Mission bested the Millennium and One Rincon in our "race to glass" challenge back in May— is seeking LEED silver certification, a decision made once construction was underway; reduced water usage, use of recycled materials, and installation of a cool roof system are only a few in a list of earth-friendly efforts made during the process. Though we can't see the SoMa development debate resting anytime soon, reader sentiments have leaned toward the positive on this project, one of the largest (and tallest) glass megaliths south of Market.
