Exploratorium Embarcadero Exploration Gets Serious

Board of Supervisors approves the children's museum up the waterfront

The Exploratorium's move up the Embaracadero has received another enthusiastic thumbs up.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors gave the children's museum the green light to pack its bags and move to a bigger house on piers 15 and 17.

The plan to move to a larger, fancier location already received the Port Commission's blessing.

Now all the museum needs is from the State Lands Commission and San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission to make the move final.

The move has been in the works since 2004. If final approval is given by everyone, the museum  will shift to the two piers and expand its exhibits as well as place a larger emphasis on outdoor exhibits. Currently the museum has no outdoor science projects to play with.
