Gavin's New Digs

The mayor and his pregnant wife move to a new San Francisco mansion

Mr. Mayor and his lovely and very pregnant wife have gone and purchased a big house at 1581 Masonic Ave. The house was built in 1915 and comes in at 2,300 square feet. It has four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, herringbone-patterned wood floors (shazam!), balconies that face east, a Roman soaking tub, and what appears to be a teeny tiny backyard.

Rumors suggest that Mayor Gavin Newsom and Jennifer Siebel Newsom will move in on June 19, which is Jennifer's 35th birthday. The seller, Candace Barnes, is an interior designer and antiques dealer, so you can bet that the interior of the house is tricked out and up to par with whatever standards the Mayor and Co. have. The property was listed in February at $3,300,000, but was then price-chopped to $2,980,000 in May.

All of this is fine and good, but we're scratching our head over the questionable taste of Miss Barnes when it came to the gate on the exterior of her home. It doesn't quite compliment the faux style of the home, does it?
