Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a plan for political foes who stand in the way of his plan to sell about a dozen state properties: terminate them.
A former Schwarzenegger appointee wrote in the Los Angeles Times that the governor is removing people from their positions who oppose his plan.
Jerry Epstein says he was removed from the Los Angeles authority after he made the mistake of asking Schwarzenegger whether selling state properties is in the best interest of taxpayers.
But allegations of dismissals don't stop there. Two San Francisco State Building Authority appointees were say they too were removed just days before a panel was scheduled to review the sale of the San Francisco Civic Center.
But the governor -- through his chosen spokespeople at his chosen state department -- says Epstein and others weren't fired. It was simply time for a change.
Schwarzenegger was given the authority to sell state office buildings by the Legislature last July to raise much needed money for the cash-strapped state.
Eleven state properties are for sale, including the Civic Center in San Francisco and the California Public Utilities Commission building in San Francisco, the Reagan building in Los Angeles.
