More Hospital Watching: SF General Scores Go-Ahead

The city's political elite are backing Proposition A, the ever-auspicious $888 million bond measure slated to fund the overhaul of SF General Hospital; Gav & Co. took to the lawn outside of SF General's current acute care hospital, announcing their victory in the face of a sinking economy. Peskin, Daly, Sandoval— the gang was all there in support of the plan which, as Peskin proclaimed, represents "truly progressive values." Gavin has already blown through $25 million on preliminary planning for the project, but hey, "no worries" as we say here in California— officials insist that costs won't jump the rails. Designs: designed. Environmental Impact Report: reported. Contractors: contracted. Construction is expected in 2009; ETA: 2015.
