San Francisco Buildings Are Really Old: Happy birthday to the Bank of...

advertisement

Happy birthday to the Bank of Italy, Bank of California, and sundry architectural feats erected in 1908 after San Francisco put itself back together following the 1906 quake. While the mind boggles at the prospect of San Francisco issuing 14,000 building permits in a given year, that's what went down 100 years ago— big banks, department stores, all of the fancy stuff on Nob Hill. Let's all imagine what our fair city will look like 100 more down the line. Scary. [SF Gate]
