New York has the High Line Park, a repurposed train line that has locals and tourists alike strolling with glee astride the Meatpacking District (and occasionally gawking at some risqué window shows).
Via Streetsblog, architect Ronald Rael— who brought us the U.S./Mexico border see-saw— turning our recently obsoleted Bay Bridge span into a park too.
But that's not all! With green on top, there's residential and retail below, turning the bridge into a kind of modern Ponte Vecchio meets Chia Pet.
Dubbed the Bay Line, the project has not been formally proposed to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, nor would they be very hot for the idea anyway. Also, we were getting rid of the span for some reason, weren't we?
