Is Oakland poised to become the Beverly Hills of Northern California?

No, it isn't. But that doesn't mean its San Francisco neighbor doesn't have its share of celebrity visitors.

Twitter was set ablaze in recent days with sightings of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their children.

Pitt was been shooting a film at the Oakland Coliseum called "Moneyball," which is about a giant ball of money rolling downhill and getting bigger and bigger. In a metaphorical sense, of course.

The film is actually a biopic about Billy Beane, a General Manager of the A's credited with the team's recent success.

While Pitt works, Jolie has been taking the kids around town, visiting a toy store and buying a manicure set. Celebrity watchers have been hanging on their every move.

Describing the manicure set purchase, an eyewitness frothed, "It looked like they both wanted it and they showed it to Angelina." The set contains chemicals that may be harmful if misused, so hopefully they'll be careful.

Celeb-watchers were interested to hear that the film was seeking extras for crowd shots. The work didn't actually pay, but they did get to hang out in the same sports stadium.

Oakland's seen its fair share of celebrities in the past. Among the entertainers who hail from the city: Mark Hamill, Clint Eastwood, Tre Cool, exploitation director Russ Meyer, and of course Jack London, whose time in the Bay Area was dramatized in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

What's next for Pitt? He's currently in development on a slew of films, including "The Zombie Survival Guide." Maybe he'll be back soon!
