We are hoping this isn't one of those deals where employees are not eligible to participate.
But the Wal-Mart Foundation is teaming up with a nonprofit organization to provide free tax preparation and filing services to low-income Bay Area residents at a Wa-Mart store in Oakland Monday. Here's hoping their own employees can use the services.
Wal-Mart and One Economy, a nonprofit that helps low-income Americans, will be providing the service starting at 11 a.m. at the store at 8400 Edgewater Drive, according to Wal-Mart spokeswoman Amelia Neufeld.
Representatives from Wal-Mart, One Economy, United Way, and the Internal Revenue Service will be at the store to welcome the Mobile Tax Center van, which is funded by the Wal-Mart Foundation.
Consumers making less than $56,000 per year will be eligible to have their taxes filed free of charge, and can learn about their potential to qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit.
The van will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, according to Neufeld.
The Mobile Tax Center van is part of a nationwide tour. For more information on tour dates and locations, visit their Web site.
