“Modern Family” Star Brings Sex Appeal to New “Spicy” Kmart Line

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, known for her saucy Colombian sass and genetic blessings, has signed a long-term contract with Kmart to produce a line of leggings, dresses, miniskirts and leopard-print bustiers that will launch this fall, WWD reports.

Naturally, Vergara will model the clingy separates herself, telling the paper that, with the collection, they're "trying to fill a hole in the store. They wanted to appeal to a younger woman with something a little spicy. The times are changing." At 38 years old, Vergara is certainly youthful, but in an interesting twist, Sears Holding Group (Kmart's parent) EVP John Goodman actually places her new collection in line with the store's other junior efforts -- they've also got relationships with Disney Channel star Selena Gomez

The extensive line includes not only dresses and separates, but also footwear, handbags, jewelry, and jackets, all priced between $14.99-$49.99. “There are great dresses, great jeggings, some oversize tops, some tanks, denim will be part of the line,” said Goodman.

Besides the focus on dressing up one's curves, the line was a practical decision for Vergara, who cited Kmart's large Latin consumer base, and points out as a mother, "When you have kids. you don’t go to Bergdorf Goodman to buy underwear and socks. You go to Kmart." And now, you go for sexy dresses, too.
