Verizon Dishing Out Even Faster FiOS Speeds That Most Can't Afford

Are you reading this with Verizon's super fast (and expensive) FiOS fiber optic Internet connection? If you are, then you're probably getting speeds of up to 50Mbps. Verizon just sweetened the deal by tripling its FiOS speed.

According to Electronista, Verizon's FiOS will offer speeds of up to 150Mbps. High definition movies in 720p could be downloaded in four and a half minutes and 100MB of photos in under 23 seconds. To put it in layman's terms: the new FiOS speed is faster than fast. How fast is too fast? Can you even perceive the difference?

In addition to the speedier downloads, the upload speed has also received a boost from 20Mbps to 35Mbps. Time to get all those videos you filmed at camp last summer and upload them. No excuses this time!

If you have the need for speed, then you'd better have the moolah to back it up. Speeds of 150Mbps will cost you $195 — about $55 more than what Verizon's currently offering. We want the speed, but that asking price is going to put a hole in our pockets.
