101 Drivers: Look Out For Flying Rocks

A man might have a broken jaw, thanks to a rock that came flying through his windshield Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol has released the names of two Novato men arrested early this morning for allegedly throwing rocks onto U.S. Highway 101, injuring the driver of a large Safeway truck.

Novato police arrested Schon Lara, 20, and Nickolas Pierce, 19,  several hours later, according to CHP Officer Mary Ziegenbein.

Around 12:20 a.m., CHP officers responded to a report that a rock struck a three-axle Safeway truck was struck in the windshield with a rock  near De Long Avenue in Novato. The 54-year-old driver was hospitalized,  possibly with a broken jaw, according to the CHP.

Novato police spotted Lara and Pierce around 2 a.m. near Highway 101 and Rowland Boulevard, according to the CHP, and took them into custody in connection with the incident.
