Severe weather rolled into the Bay Area tonight just after 8:00 p.m. PDT.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Northern San Mateo County which expired at 8:45 p.m.
This included the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno, Pacifica, Millbrae, Daly City and Burlingame.

At 8:09 p.m. PDT, the national Weather Service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located near El Ganada, or seven miles southwest of Pacifica, and moving northeast at 25 mph.
The storm weakened but was still capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
Light rain was reported in Oakland, and SOMA, around 8:22 p.m.
Local
At approximately 8:47 p.m. thunder and lightening was reported in San Francsico, and around 9:00 p.m. heavy rain was reported in Santa Rosa.
Several power outages were reported, including 2000 in San Francisco without power and 1,700 in Concord.
The FAA instituded a ground delay program due ot the severe weather. It is scheduled to end at 2:00 a.m. Delays up to 2.5 hours are expected. 61 flights have been cancelled.
At least one United flight was hit by lightning and had to return to SFO.
Just after 9:00 p.m. NBC Bay Area Meteorologist Rob Mayeda said the storm was slowly moving south, over Tri-Valley, Hayward, Fremont, San Mateo, Mountain View, and moving into San Jose before 11:00 p.m.
Thunderstorms are expected to continue well past midnight and the Bay Area will likely see more isolated showers throughout the day Friday.
The California Highway Patrol has issued high wind advisories for the Golden Gate Bridge and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The CHP is urging motorists to use caution.
