Breezy and Dry Ahead

A weather system diving down east of the Sierra coupled with high pressure building in from the west will lead to breezy conditions to wrap up the weekend and possibly set us up for some fire danger issues this week. Sierra travelers should be prepared for showers into Sunday, with some snow possible at times near 6,000 ft and snow showers possible around the Tahoe basin.Instead of a cool, fairly moist westerly flow off the Pacific, northerly winds will lower humidity levels and lead to some warming temps in our inland valleys. We should see highs on Sunday close to Saturday s but by Monday through Wednesday inland locations will see highs in the mid 70s to lower 80s with some 70s possible near the coastline as well. Depending on how strong the wind speeds get, as we see bursts off slightly offshore wind some fire weather watches may be issued in the hills. Dry weather is expected for most of the work week with some changes possible approaching next weekend as the polar jet stream tries digging southward on the West Coast again.Enjoy your Sunday! - Rob Mayeda
