High Surf Advisory Called Along Coast

The heavy rain is gone, but weather is still making news here in the Bay Area.

The heavy rains are gone, but the Bay Area forecast is still being impacted by weather.

For instance, a high surf advisory is in effect through Sunday afternoon along the entire Bay Area coast, according to the National Weather Service.

The high surf warning will last through 3 p.m. Forecasters say waves could reach up to 17 feet and there may also be strong rip currents and sneaker waves, so surfers take note.

NBC Bay Area forecasters say a very cool airmass will continue to flow into the region Sunday.

Snow levels could drop down to the 2,500 to 3,000 ft. range and set the stage for another day of showers that may contain ice pellets and/or small hail associated with thundershowers.

NBC Bay Area's Rob Mayeda said its looking like moisture will begin decreasing as Sunday's trough of low pressure begins sliding eastward. He says showers won't shut down completely until sunset.

Mayeda said Monday's forecast is dry expect for an occasional shower in the North Bay.

There are showers also possible Tuesday and again Thursday.

"We may see another fairly wet and windy pattern setting up for next weekend depending on the placement of a new West Coast trough of low pressure - so stay tuned, it does seem even as we move into spring we'll still be playing catch up in the rainfall and Sierra snowfall department this week," Mayeda said.

The storms left the Sierra under several new feet of snow. Heavenly said it would be 100-percent open Sunday for the first time this seaon. Below is photo from Heavenly to show some of what the resort was happy to deal with this weekend.
