Rain Returns to Bay Area, But Part of Weekend Could Be Dry

Rain has returned to the San Francisco Bay Area, but at least part of the weekend could be dry.

National Weather Service forecasters say periods of light to moderate rain are expected throughout Thursday and Friday and possibly into early Saturday.

Forecasters say rainfall totals in most San Francisco Bay Area locations are one-tenth of an inch or less with some areas receiving up to a quarter of an inch.

Saturday and Sunday could be partly sunny. A second storm could arrive on Monday.

A winter storm system will impact the Sierra Nevada through Friday with 8 to 12 inches of snow above 6,000 feet. A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday.
