Giants Get a Ticker-Tape Parade

Giants Parade Set For Wednesday 11 a.m.

Within a half hour of the Monday night's Giants World Series win, the mayor of San Francisco announced the details of a ticker-tape parade.

The parade will be held on Wednesday morning starting at 11 a.m.  It's expected to last at least a couple of hours.

It will start on Montgomery Street at Washington Street and end on the steps of City Hall with a ticker-tape feel down Market Street.

The route from Washington is south down Montgomery Street, west on Market Street to Civic Center Plaza.  The route is the exact replica of the one taken by the team when they first came to San Francisco from New York back in 1958.

"San Francisco could not be prouder of its hometown San Francisco Giants tonight," said Mayor Newsom.

The parade will end with a ceremony outside City Hall.

The mayor says everyone is invited to line the sidewalks, but he recommends those who want a seat at the City Hall presentation should arrive early.   If you would like the best seat in the house, you can always stay home and watch it on television.  NBC Bay Area will air the parade and the City Hall ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday. We will also stream it live here at nbcbayarea.com, so you can also watch it if you have to work.

The last time the city held a parade of this kind was 15 years ago, when the San Francisco 49ers crushed the San Diego Chargers in Superbowl XXIX.
