Ian Cull is an award-winning reporter who joined NBC Bay Area in June 2014. You can see his stories on the station's evening newscasts.
Prior to NBC Bay Area, Ian spent five years working in Washington as a "one-man-band" -- shooting, writing, voicing, and editing on his own every day. A proud graduate of Gonzaga University with a degree in Broadcast Media, Ian began his career as a news and sports anchor/reporter in Southern Utah. He has also worked as a reporter in Central Texas.
Ian has covered a wide variety of stories in the Bay Area. He has been on the front lines of historic wildfires and covered the first COVID-19 cases in the U.S. He was there for the San Jose Sharks’ push to the Stanley Cup Final. He also broke a story that garnered international attention when a woman accidentally recycled an Apple One computer worth $200,000.
Ian was part of the NBC team that won a national SPJ Award for public service in journalism along with the American Legion’s ‘Fourth Estate Award.’
Ian is married and has two children. As a native of the Central Valley, but raised in Washington state, he’s happy to be back in California.
He enjoys bodyboarding, fly-fishing, playing pick-up soccer, being a dad, and cheering his kids on at their sporting events.
