Bill Condon Takes the Helm for “Breaking Dawn”

After months of feverish speculation, Bill Condon has emerged as the director for the final Twilight installment "Breaking Dawn."

The news of Condon as the choice to helm the coveted project had been reported as speculation, but Summit Entertainment made the official announcement Wednesday morning.

"I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen," Condon said in the Summit release. "As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book. We're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience."

Condon is known for writing and directing "Dreamgirls," "Kinsey" and won a screenwriting Oscar for "Gods and Monsters," which he also directed.

But on this project he'll be working on a screenplay by "Twilight" veteran Melissa Rosenberg and a book, naturally, by Stephenie Meyer.

Meyer clearly wields a lot of influence on these pictures and noted she is "thrilled" with the choice. "I think he's going to be a great fit," she said in the release.

The remaining mystery: will the conclusion be one film or two? Summit is still not commenting officially, but you can bet your Robert Pattinson trading cards that Summit will take advantage of the Twi-love and milk a second box office hit out of the still-powerful-fervor. They'd be crazy not to.
