“Bourne Legacy” Casting Heating Up

"Bourne Legacy" could be turn out to be a star-making film, or the kind of project that haunts you for the rest of your days--but that won't stop the hottest young actors in Hollywood from chasing it.

Joel Edgerton, Dominic Cooper, Garrett Hedlund and Luke Evans are set to screen test for the role of--well, we don't know who--but "the lead" in the next "Bourne," said Deadline. Others may join the testing, scheduled for early April, but that's it for now.

Shia LeBeouf is under consideration as well, but a source claims he will not test, apparently he feels he's a known talent--we'd agree. And Taylor Kitsch has also been mentioned.

But as Deadline notes, this franchise doesn't really need a name actor. Unless they could've convinced Matt Damon to come back and play Jason Bourne in a fourth film, the brand is the star. They'd be better of starting fresh with a lesser known actor.

Of the four guys set to test, we've had a mancrush on Cooper since seeing him on Broadway in "The History Boys," and we've been impressed with his subsequent work. We're also a big fan of Edgerton, who was so good in "The Square" and "Animal Kingdom."

Tony Gilroy, who had a hand in writing the first three "Bourne" films, is writing an directing this latest chapter.
