“Dark Knight Rises” Videos Smell Like Arson & Gitmo

"The Dark Knight Rises" promotional campaign is maintaining a very low profile, releasing three videos with little fanfare.

TheFireRises's Channel went live on YouTube on May 21, and since then three videos have been posted, showing scenes of mayhem, burning cars, a burning Arkham Asylum, a newscaster (looks like Michael Anthony Hall, reprising his "Dark Knight" role as Gotham TV host Mike Engel), the same chanting we heard on the website that offered up the first look at Tom Hardy at Bane, and lots of guys in orange jumpsuits with hoods over their heads that evoke many of the images we've seen from Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib. The last one is called "491," which is police code for a dead human body. Check 'em out:

The quality of the video is intentionally poor, which is frustrating, but it's definitely heightened our interest. Of course, they don't need to spend a single dollar on marketing for this to be a hit, so why not get a little weird with it?

Director Chris Nolan's final Batman film, which stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Juno Temple and a ton of other folks, arrives July 20, 2012.
