Sean Penn May Take “The Last Photograph” With Christian Bale

Sean Penn and Christian Bale in the same film? We pity the first PA to accidentally walk into a scene.

Penn is considering joining Bale in "The Last Photograph," a story set in war-torn Afghanistan, reported Deadline. It's to be directed by Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the original Swedish version of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Scripted by Kurt Johnstad ("300"), the film is based on an idea from Zack Snyder, would have Bale playing a photographer who is the sole witness and survivor of an attack, with Penn (possibly) playing the ex-special ops soldier trying to free a kidnapped loved one. No word on whether all the men wear lingerie and do battle to the strains of '90s pop song covers.

Penn and Bale, two of the best actors working, would obviously be a treat to watch together, but after "Sucker Punch," we're very nervous when we hear the phrase "based on an idea from Zack Snyder."

Snyder is producing the film along with his wife, Deborah, and Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang, who were behind "300" as well as Tarsem Singh's upcoming "Immortals."

Penn can next be seen May 27 in Terrence Malick's "Tree of Life," and his film "This Must Be the Place," in which he stars as an ex-rocker who tries to hunt down the ex-Nazi who killed his father, is looking for distribution.
