“The Sarah Silverman Program” Tells Its Last Poop Joke

It's a sad day in Valley Village and, well, anywhere in need of a sophomoric joke not printable here -- "The Sarah Silverman Program" has been canceled after three seasons.

Deadline Hollywood breaks the sad news today. It was rude, crude, the opposite of politically correct and lead to a Emmy nomination for lead actress Sarah Silverman last year.

It's been on the brink for a while. Only a last-minute financing deal brought about a third season after Silverman and her team threatened to quit when the network announced plans to cut their budget by 20 percent.

The show had an intensely loyal following which led a Twitter campaign to rally a fourth season. But it was not to be.

Not everyone was a fan. TV Guide knocked the show in 2007 saying, "If there's such a thing as feminist frat-boy humor, Silverman has mastered it. Big deal."

Silverman's crazy cast of dysfunctional characters will no longer carry on. But she's rolling with a best-selling book "The Bedwetter." And she will co-star in "Take This Waltz."
