“24” Brass Deal with Dumb Plot Backlash

The creators of "24" sure know how to pack the action into a television program, but they might have gone a mole to far with their current Dana Walsh plot-line.

"God almighty, there has been a Dana backlash," Howard Gordon, executive producer for "24" told EW.com.  "I would implore people to be more patient with Dana."

There are plenty of official "24" forums featuring rants such as "I hate Dana Walsh with all my heart." Folks make it clear they love Katee Sackhoff the actress, but hate her ludicrous mole character.

Gordon pleads not guilty to "tiresome and lazy story telling," arguing that the moles gig is something that comes with the territory when you're dealing with the man saving the world every season. "Moles and betrayals are stock in trade of the show."

Gordon said it isn't easy to "sit in our chair and figure out how to do 24 continuous, real-time episodes without using certain devices."

It's about to get easier: Fox recently announced the show will not be renewed next season.
