Facebook Recognizes Face.com

Mobile facial recognition just got about $100 million closer for Facebook users.

Face.com has been purchased by Facebook for between $80-$100 million, according to TechCrunch and others.

The Israeli company's forte is mobile face recognition for users. So, point, click and wait and the software should bring up suggestions for tagging. Tap. Done. (Theoretically, like the existing Klik app.)

Face.com's blog pledges to continue to show the love to its developer community, with many thanks to the coders who have used Face across the product spectrum.

Paired with the $1 billion purchase of Instagram, Facebook's move toward being the mobile-photo-sharing platform (as well as aspirations to be a platform for everything) gets more complete.
