Teens on Facebook More Than Twitter

For teens, Facebook still is the social networking king, although it is followed by Twitter and Instagram.

The results come after a Piper Jaffray survey of 7,700 teens, which ranked Facebook as No. 1, and then followed by rival Twitter and then photo-sharing Instagram, according to MarketWatch. Either way, the advantage is Facebook's because it owns Instagram.

The survey did reveal that mobile gaming is "unpopular among teens" which means trouble for Zynga.

Why do investors care about young people so much? Despite not having much money, they are usually seen as tastemakers and more attuned to trends -- and prized by marketers. By having such a firm grasp on teens, Facebook's advertising and revenue prospects seem very bright indeed.
