Terror Alerts on Facebook and Twitter

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced they will now start issuing terror alerts via Facebook, and Twitter, starting April 27th.

According to the Associated Press, some terror could be withheld from the public if announcing a threat would risk exposing an intelligence operation or an ongoing investigation. The alerts posted on Facebook and Twitter will have an expiration date as well.

The multi-level, multi-colored alert system is also changing, going to just two levels - "elevated" and "imminent."

Users who "Like" the Homeland Security's Facebook page will get the alerts within the news feed.
