Verizon Is Going to Axe Its Unlimited Data Plans

Following in the footsteps of AT&T, Verizon is planning to kill off its unlimited data plans, instead switching to a tiered system that will charge heavy users more to download via their phones. Sigh.

Verizon hopes that by adding in some family plans for data users that it'll soothe the burn for customers who may end up paying significantly more after the change. This will leave Sprint and T-Mobile as the only carriers offering up all-you-can-eat plans, with that number dropping to just Sprint if the proposed T-Mobile/AT&T merger goes through. It's seeming like a worse and worse idea as time goes on, isn't it?
