Facebook's Crouching Wendi Deng, Hidden Dragon

They're calling her "Crouching Wendi, Hidden Dragon" and comparing her to Chuck Norris and the Tiger Mom -- and Wendi Deng's new Facebook fan page has 1,382 members.

"KA-POW! A page to express your admiration of Mrs Murdoch's right hook," the page says, filled with overwhelmingly positive comments such as  "good job!" and "Super wife!"

Deng appeared to have lightning reflexes (apparently faster than security) as a man with a paper plate of shaving cream approached media mogul Rupert Murdoch in front of a British Parliament hearing on the News of the World phone hacking scandal Tuesday, the Guardian (U.K.) reported.

The shaving-cream assailant, Jonathan May-Bowles, walked up to Rupert Murdoch, took aim and struck. . . . Deng lunged while startled police officers were barely off the back foot. While a roomful of male advisers also appeared stunned, she scooped up the paper plate fired at her husband and launched it like a grenade back at May-Bowles, a comedian, with an amazing right hook.

The 42-year-old Deng finished up by carefully wiping Murdoch's face free of shaving cream and saying, "I got him!" (The video of the incident can be seen below.)

Not all of the comments were positive. Some Facebookers called Deng a "gold digger" and "fortune cookie," alluding to her marriage to Murdoch only days after his divorce from his second wife was final. The couple has been married for 12 years and has two children.

So far Deng, who is also a Yale MBA, in only a few moments has been more effective in positive public relations for News Corp. than any of the expensive firms Murdoch has been paying for past few weeks. She definitely deserves a raise, Rupert.
