Hey, LA's Jobless, Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

There's no such thing as the California economy. This state is a confederation of regional economies, with vast differences between, say, the Central Valley and the Silicon Valley.

So if you're having trouble looking for a job, the problem may be you. Or it may be the region you live in.

This thought occurs upon looking through a list from a job search website called Indeed.com. The list shows the top 50 metropolitan areas by population -- and by job competition. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Indeed.com shows how many unemployed workers there are for every job opening.

In California, the list argues for relocating from LA and inland Southern California (where there are six people for every job) to San Jose (where there's one unemployed person for each opening). Check out the full list here.
