Amoeba Presents Summer Documentary Series

Screenings at Balboa Theatre start on June 12

Amoeba Music has partnered with Balboa Theatre for a summer documentary series running on Thursday nights from June 12 to July 31.

The eight-week program explores the cultural history of genres such as hip-hop (5 Sides of a Coin, 6/19), reggae (Holding on to Jah, 6/26), punk (Rage: 20 Years of Punk Rock, 7/10) and blues (You See Me Laughin', 7/31) as well as individual acts like rocker Bobby Bare, Jr. (Don't Follow Me, 6/12), Jewish musicians The Klezmatics (On Holy Ground, 7/3), singers Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (The Swell Season, 7/17), and "brother-sister" duo The White Stripes (Under Great Northern Lights, 7/24).

All films cost $10 and start at 7:30 PM.
