Beat Swap Meet Returns to Bay Area

Third event is June 15 in Berkeley

The third Bay Area Beat Swap Meet, part of a national circuit of events, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 15 at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley.

Riders of the plastic groove (aka record collectors and sellers) from around California will be in attendance with rarieties and novelties alike for sale. Look for a wide variety of musical styles, including punk, jazz, rap, rock, reggae/world beats, and ska.

Local DJs such as Mr. E, Platurn, Smokestack, and the Sweater Funk DJs man the decks, while a showcase of live music features producers who don't use laptops. Admission is $5 for the all ages event, with "casual drinking" for those 21 and over.
