Slash Gets His Own Umami Burger

Sandwich comes to Bay Area this week

Umami Burger, an upscale Southern California-based chain with locations in San Francisco (2184 Union Street), Oakland (2100 Franklin) and Palo Alto (452 University), has created a hamburger in honor of legendary guitarist Slash of Guns N Roses fame.

What does Slash taste like? In this case, strangely like Umami's signature burger, but crowned with braised shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, American cheese, avocado spread, and wasabi aioli, served with a Parmesan cheese crisp.

This isn't Umami's first foray into musical territory. A Mayer Hawthorne burger with cognac-infused parsnip puree, cognac fondue, Hatch chiles and crispy Hatch chile straws was served back in July.

The Slash Burger costs $15, with one dollar going to Los Angeles Youth Network. It is available at all locations from September 26 to November 27.
