Giants Return to AT&T World Champions

For the first time since Game 2 of the World Series, the Giants will take the field at AT&T Park Monday night for the annual pre-season tradition known as the Bay Bridge series or the Battle of the Bay against their cross-bridge rival the Oakland A's.

The San Francisco team is arriving home from the Cactus League portion of the 2011 season with a 20-12 record.

The rainy weather cleared just in time for a dry but cool night game on the banks of the San Francisco Bay. First pitch, which will be thrown by Matt Cain, is set for 7:15 p.m.

The last time the Giants played in front of the fans in San Francisco, the eyes of the country were focused on 24 Willie Mays Plaza as the team faced off against the Texas Rangers in the 2010 World Series.

A NBC reporter from Dallas named Newy Scruggs became an internet sensation when he declared on live TV that Giants fans were smoking marijuana on the banks of McCovey Cove. "That's weed. That's weed!" declared Scruggs.

Fast forward five months and the team is now the reigning World Champions. Although people might still be smoking pot over by the McCovey statue, no one is talking about it.

The Giants will play in Oakland Tuesday and then back in the City for a day game Wednesday.

Opening Day for the Orange and Black is on the road Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The game will air on ESPN.
