Jim Harbaugh, Alex Smith Drive Giants World Series Parade Cars

Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith drove cars for Brandon Belt and Matt Cain, respectively, during the Giants World Series parade.

Earlier Wednesday we told you that Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers were "inspired" by what the Giants did during their run to a World Series title. Perhaps Harbaugh and the Niners were just kissing up to the champs in order to land a spot in the Giants World Series parade?

If that was the case, it worked -- Harbaugh and 49ers quarterback Alex Smith both ended up driving cars in the parade for the Giants.

Harbaugh was behind the wheel for Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, while Smith was driving the car for Giants ace Matt Cain.

Surely you've already been watching the parade, but if not, you can dive on and check out our live stream of the event right now.

The picture above comes courtesy of a Niners Nation reader, and as David Fucillo notes, Harbaugh had Cain with him during a celebrity golf tournament this year and there have been several interactions between the two teams this year.

Smith wore a Giants hat to a postgame press conference and got fined and the entire Giants roster -- mainly Bruce Bochy -- got his back.

So there's a lot of synergy and love between the football and baseball teams in San Francisco. Oddly enough, however, the 49ers actually need to beat the Giants (the football ones anyway) if they want to find themselves celebrating with their own parade.
