Send Buster a Get Well Message

The Giants are helping fans reach out to Buster Posey.

They have set up an official place for people to send messages to the injured player. The team said late Thursday that Posey has torn ligaments in his left ankle and a fractured fibula bone. Giants' trainer Dave Groeschner said the fracture should heal normally, but that the ligament tears will likely require surgery.

The team isn't saying he's out for the season, but admit Posey will likely be sidelined "for awhile."

Here's the link to the Get Well Buster card.

In the first hour the site received more than 1,500 messages.

Posey was hurt while guarding home plate against the incoming Marlin's Scott Cousins. The two crashed into each other and Posey's ankle turned in the collision. To add insult to injury Cousins scored the winning run on the play.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy, many of the players and the fans said Thursday that they are still in shock over the injury and the loss.

Posey is a marquis player for the World Champion team. He's a fan favorite and a team leader in the clubhouse in just his second full year of professional ball.

He was batting .284 with four home runs and 21 RBIs, was in the middle of a 13-game hitting streak.
