Vogey, Torres Up for Awards

Ryan Vogelsong was -- in my opinion -- snubbed when MLB gave out its Comeback Player of the Year Award.

He'll get another chance to win, though, as he's up for the Players Choice Awards Comeback Player of the Year, which is voted on by his colleagues.

Vogelsong, Cardinals outfielder Lance Berkman and Mets shortstop Jose Reyes are also nominated.

And yes, Berkman is the guy who won when Vogey got hosed. Unfortunately, this is voted on by players, so there's nothing Giants fans can do, unless you're neighbors with a bunch of MLB players. In which case, pester them.

What'll be interesting to see is how MLB players define "comeback" -- is it a guy who's had a great career but suffered just one bad season bouncing back? Or is it a guy with no career who finally emerged?

We'll find out November 3 when the winner's announced.

In the meantime, you can vote for Andres Torres, who's been nominated for the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's (MLBPAA) Heart & Hustle Award.

One player from each team is nominated, so Torres has some stiffer competition than Vogelsong, but you can assist him by cruising over here and casting your vote for the Giants outfielder.
