Big Names, Small Art

AFFORDABLE AUCTION: It sounds like a philosophical question from days of yore: How much art can one fit onto a little canvas? The answers probably vary, but we'll vote for the "as much art as it needs" camp (we're assuming there's such a camp, and it is vocal). We're fans of the small art movement (don't despair, big art movement; you are loved, too) and we're fans of art being affordable and we like when accomplished regional artists create smaller works and those works are auctioned off with a starting bid of $25. And that's exactly what will be happening at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento on Thursday, May 26.

BIG NAMES, SMALL ART: An entry to the event is fifteen bucks, and then you can bid away on whatever works you like (again, the bids'll begin at $25 and go up from there). We said "little canvas" above, but works may be a little bigger than little; canvases may be 12 inches by 12 inches (but no larger). Money raised helps various programs at the Crocker. If you can't make it, but are in a Crocker-supporting, auction-going kind of mood, a posh, dinner-nice evening will happen at the museum on Saturday, June 4.
