Eighth Annual Yosemite Facelift

MY MY... But isn't California getting spiffy? Saturday, Sept. 17 is Coastal Clean-up Day -- last year the haul was some 1.2 million pounds of trash or so -- and the Eighth Annual Yosemite Facelift is just ahead. The Facelift, which is on in 2011 from Sept. 20 through Sept. 25, is a six-day mondo spiffy at the park held in honor of National Public Lands Day. The clean-up efforts will happen at "various sites around the valley," so you could be at different points if you stay for a few days. But, regardless, every hand helps. The Yosemite Climbing Association is organizing the event. Thanks, YCA! Gotta keep the park shiny. We imagine the glaring glint from some cast-off fender or barrel, as seen from the side of El Capitan, does not charm.
