GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY: A couple of thoughts instantly cross the mind when one sees there is a Live Like a Californian sweepstakes on, a sweepstakes sponsored by the California Travel & Tourism Commission. The first is, hey, I *am* living like a Californian. (That is, if you are indeed a Californian.) The second is, hey, Betty White! (Because a chance to hobnob with the star is one of the grand prizes.) The third is, can I enter, if I live in California? Why yes you can. In fact, we'll call it marvelously meta, if you, as a Californian, enter a sweepstakes that'll enable you to live like a Californian.
THE DEAL: Visit California -- the California Travel & Tourism Commission, in other words -- will have Golden State-focused quizzes for you to take. You "earn" chances to win prizes, and some of those prizes are sweet. Hangin' with Betty White on the set of "Hot in Cleveland," going to a Jason Mraz show, supping around LA with Roy Choi. There are lots of to-knows and fine print, and details on other prizes. The sweepstakes wrap on June 19, so you have a bit of time, but not much. And figure that even if you don't win, you can still keep livin' like a Californian, today and every day, which is, like, freakin' awesome, right? Not all the time, of course, but most of all of the time, pretty much.
