Ski the Old-Fashioned Way

Bear Valley will host the 15th annual Telemark Ski Festival in a couple weeks where people can literally kick up their heels with enthusiasts across the state who are expected to flock to the small alpine village.

The festival is Feb. 11-13 at Bear Valley Mountain Resort.

Telemark skiing is free-heel skiing that, once mastered, leads to a stylish execution of turns. "Often alpine skiers hit a plateau and telemark skiing helps them break out of this rut by teaching a balanced and stable stance which leads to better overall skiing technique. Plus telemark skiing it’s a fun and stylish way to ski," says festival director Aaron Johnson.

So come out to Bear Valley and learn something new.
