Deals Aplenty: LA Museum Season

Stay in a participating hotel for two nights and nab free museum admissions.

CULTURAL SOCAL: Southern California museums have been popping up in the headlines a lot over the last few years, but that's pretty much how it is always been. Still, a 340-ton boulder that you can walk under -- that's Levitated Mass, of course, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art -- and a new motion picture museum and The Cyrus Cylinder at The Getty Villa and the upcoming The Broad downtown and the free-admission-to-come at The Hammer in Westwood have filled out the art lover's calendar quite nicely. And while a few of the recent stories are about developments just down the road, there are several exhibits to enjoy now, and the LA Museum Season deals make them easy to enjoy for free.

HOW IT WORKS: "Book two hotel room nights and receive a special voucher for two free adult admissions and store discounts at more than two dozen of LA's leading museums..." is the general upshot of this sweet-deal plan, a plan that is currently on through Nov. 17. Meaning that if you've got a Los Angeles trip on the horizon, you might go with one of the participating stay-over spots, the better to pocket (and use) those free museum admissions.

DISCOVER LOS ANGELES: Yep, the friendly people behind the LA visitors org are the put-togetherers of this excellent plan, a plan that covers a host of institutions and museums including LACMA, MOCA, the Getty, the Pacific Asia Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Petersen Automotive Museum, and other top-notch cultural destinations.

AND... again, The Broad and that close-to-LACMA motion picture museum are still to come, but why not plan your yearly SoCal culture trip now? It is, after all, a robust and thriving center of all that is art-nice and creative-cool and boulder-heavy. (Seriously, have you see Levitated Mass yet? Do.)
