Downtown Disney Flowering with Fresh Additions

Ballast Point and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer are both headed for the popular Anaheim area in 2018.

WE SAY "BALLAST POINT"... and you say "Sculpin" or "Manta Ray" or "Sea Rose" or "Watermelon Dorado" or another one of the company's famous beers. We say "San Diego" and you tell us that Ballast Point Brewing Company began there some 22 years ago, 'round about 1996. We say "Orange County" and you, being a craft beer maven, inform us that the company doesn't yet have a location there but will, soon, in 2018, when a Ballast Point opens a restaurant and brewery. We say "Downtown Disney?" and you high five us, because that's exactly where the new suds-and-eats stop'll land. Disneyland Resort made the announcement at the end of January, and it also revealed what a lot of fans of both foams and the Happiest Place on Earth already knew: "The space will house the first-ever on-site brewery, tasting room, kitchen and outdoor beer garden at Downtown Disney District."

WHERE TO FIND YOUR SCULPIN SPOT... and when? The word is "later this year," so keep your calendar close, and as for the location? If you're in the area of Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar, or rather across from them, you're in the right neck of the woods. Other new additions are headed for the district, and we're not just talking about that mondo hotel that was announced a few months back. Look for Splitsville Luxury Lanes, a bowling alley, to pop up in the very near future (and very near where Ballast Point will be), as well as a store devoted to Disney home goods. And Ballast Point isn't the only foodie thing happening at the district. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer is also due in 2018, and will bring CrazyShakes, in addition to suds and burgers, to the area.

LOOKING FORWARD: So what will your first beer be at the first Orange County location of Ballast Point? What will your first CrazyShake be at Black Tap? Probably your favorite, if you've had the offerings of either company before. And starting with a tried-and-true favorite at a fresh location is always kind of tradition, whether it is a brew, a burger, a pizza, or some other drink-it or eat-it goodie.
