Napa Valley Arts in April

APRIL ARTS: When we say that Napa Valley is fully embracing its artistic side during the entire month of April, we certainly are not implying that the area rolls up the gallery carpets from May through March. Au contraire. About as "au contraire"-y as it gets. Napa is a center for the arts year-round, but, come April, the spotlight is on exhibits and performances and seminars and strolls and what the organizers are defining as "the elemental connection between wine and art."

GOOD HAPS: There are several choice to-dos, but two stand-outs is the "How Wine Became Modern: Design + Wine 1976 to Now" night; the curator for architecture and design at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will chat on the topic. That's on April 20 at the Cameo Cinema. There's also a gratis self-guided art tour of Calistoga, and self-guided, of course, means it is happening every day of the month.
