New in Livermore Valley: Wine & Wags

Ask your pup to don his leash, then head for a bevy of area wine tastings on the first Sunday in June.

WHILE YOUR SWEET POOCH... might have quite the sniffer on him, and he might also prove daily that there is nothing his sniffer won't sniff, there are certain items that are to be sniffed by humans and not dogs. Take the wine cork, for example, or a glass of wine: People regularly put their nose near both, all to sense the bouquet, moxie, and depth of the vino, but your baby barker best stay at your feet, snoozing, while you engage in cork- or wine-sniffery. For wine and pups? We sip it while hanging with our furry companions, but they have their water and treats and kibble to enjoy. Still, sometimes, there is a pretty magical human-hound happening that gives wine lovers a chance to indulge in their favorite elixir while inviting them to invite their dogs along for the day. Make that their leashed, nicely behaved dogs, of course, and we're quite sure your pup is cool with both. One such happening will branch out, like a grape-lovely vine, on...

SUNDAY, JUNE 3: It's the inaugural Wags & Wine event in Livermore Valley, and "(m)ore than 25 local wineries have partnered with 12 Bay Area animal rescues to host a day of wine tasting, dog adoptions, and fun activities..." built around pleasing Fidos and those people who adore Fidos. For sure, you'll meet cuties needing a forever home along the way, and you'll also find goodies and activities created for your own canine. Big White House Winery will erect a bandanna-decorating station, dog photo booths are popping up at both Darcie Kent Vineyards and Page Mill Winery, and Camp Bow Wow Livermore'll visit Wente Vineyards. Also? A welcome bag from EntirelyPets is also part of the spring-into-summer bark-around. A ticket is $30 ahead of time, and includes a special glass and two tastes at participating winery. Buying your admission there? It'll be $35. Needing all the deets so you can tell your dog what's up? Woof woof.
