Oxnard Salsa Fest Fêtes Our Favorite Fiery Food

Plan for your food-delicious, sway-and-sashay day now.

IF YOU DIG DIPS, and you adore dancing, you can probably find some deep-down delicious joy by enjoying either. Like, if your friend invited you over to try his new salsa line-up, and you arrived to see five bowls filled to the brim with onion-y, chile-rich goodness, you'd be pretty stoked. And similarly, if a friend, maybe the same friend, invited you out to hear a fabulous band, and to salsa dance the night away, or at least an energetic hour or two of the night, that stoked feeling would likely revisit you. So how do you deal with both things, happening at once, at a major festival, over one sunny July weekend? It can be a lot of spicy, swing-your-partner happiness to take in, but take it in, you just might, if you've become a devoted fan of the Oxnard Salsa Festival over the years. For the...

OXNARD SALSA FESTIVAL... isn't just about one or the other: Both the edible and the pastime are in the celebratory spotlight. And that spotlight will again shine on delighted lovers of both on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 around "the heart of historic Oxnard" (so, yep, head downtown). You may just want to head straight for the Salsa Tasting Tent, where "... dozens of different flavors of salsa to sample and buy" will be before you, mmm, but be sure to bring five bucks, as that's the tent's entry fee (and you'll get ten tasting tickets for that, so that's cool, we mean, er, hot). As for the main festival itself? Entry is free, though note that the Concert Venue area has a five-dollar admission, per person, per day (details may be found here). So many great acts'll will bring the tunes made for salsa dancing, so check out the line-ups and where to move, applaud dancers, and get into the spirit.
