You may say you feel clammy in certain situations, and other times may find you clamming up.

And if you're spending a few clams? You're probably placing some cash on the counter in order to procure an item you desire.
Staying clam, we mean "calm," and not getting clammy or clamming out or shelling out too many clams is the order of many of our days. But when it comes to a certain celebration in Pismo Beach, we want to be as clam-tastic as possible.
Why? Because it's the Pismo Beach Clam Festival, a three-day clam-a-bration that is all about those sandy bivalves. We eat them, we dig for them, we talk about them, we slurp them (in stew form), and, occasionally, if there's a person in a giant clam costume, we pose for a photograph with them.
Pretty much all of that can happen, and so much more, if you go on the clam, or lam, in pretty Central Coast burg on Oct. 18, 19, and 20, 2019.
For that's when the 73rd Clam Festival will break out the chowder bowls, the shovels and buckets, and the beer & wine garden, too, for three days of seafood-style fun.
Clamlights, which are like highlights but far more briny, will include a Kid Zone, a Clam Chowder Contest, and live music, too.
And if clam digging is on your bucket list? Best grab a bucket and see if you find chewy treasure on the shores of this iconic beach. Will you find one? A ton? Whatever the result, you know you're going to pose for a few sandy-footed snapshots that involve your jeans stylishly rolled up to your knees.
There's a Clam Festival Parade, too, if you like your venerable traditions to come with a community-cute procession. We're not saying that the parade helps summon more clams, because that is definitely not the case, but it does put everyone in a clammy mood.
And by "clammy" we mean "carefree" and "happy" and "vacation-y," too. It's a grand fall event, one that isn't about the autumnal pumpkins and colorful leaves but about the chowders and brews and the secrets of the sands.
It's free, too, unless you decide to clam-up, we mean glam-up, for one of the festival's ticketed events. Need more info? Breeze by, or bivalve, this site pronto, clamites of California.
