Polar Plunge 2011

COLD FUN: Lake Tahoe is pretty warm in March, right? Like, isn't it 80, 85 degrees? We jest. It is not warm, and we love it that way, in all of its wintery Tahoeness. Which makes conditions ideal for a Polar Plunge. You know exactly the activity we're talking about. Hearty types strip to their skivvies, then don a few costume-y touches, maybe, maybe not, and then run splashing into a lake or ocean, either for the thrill of it, or, even better, to raise money for a good cause.

POLAR PLUNGE 2011: The Plunge that's happening at South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, March 19 will raise funds for Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada. Everything's happening at Zephyr Cove, and we can just say two things: Register in advance, if you're so inclined, and think about what you'll wear (or mostly not wear, in this case). And stay toasty as you can until then. Because. Brrrrr...

OUR FAVORITE PART: The Chicken Coop, where all the "chickens" who want to lend some support but do not want to dash into frigid waves will sit. We like this option.
