Skunky Says Summer's Coming

NORTHSPUR DREAMS: Where's your happy place? If you call California home, you're pretty much obligated to have about at least 59 (and no, not just because of our various unique stresses here, but rather because there are a lot of happy places to go around). Northspur, which is the common turnaround point for the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg, is on our Happy Place roster, and likely several others', too. After all, you take a relaxing vintage train ride, through the redwoods, to the folksy picnic spot. You then disembark and purchase a barbecue lunch, if you so wish; there's also excellent beer bearing the Skunk Train label. Are you with us? Happy place? Indeed. And things are getting happier: Skunky's daily service gets choo-choo-ing on Saturday, March 12. Summer, is that you?

WELL THAT'S TIMELY: Because the March 12-13 weekend will be when a lot of the whale watching will going down in the area, courtesy of the Little River Whale Festival. So. Busy weekend, but spending it with migrating whales and a Skunk that you can ride sounds pretty perfect to us.
